I'm a newspaper columnist who -- like pretty much every other person I know in the business -- spends a lot of time worrying and wondering about where newspapers are going. This is a small attempt to find some light in the fog.
An amazing photo of discarded newspaper boxes from The Boston Globe’s “Scenes from the recession.” It perfectly reflects the recession ... and what we are talking about here. (Hat tip to Nate for pointing it out).
The newspaper business was on the decline way before this recession, but just hastened along by it. Clever and insightful writers, however, will always be in demand.
This photo was taken in San Francisco. Ironically, I saw it in the RSS feed for Google's "cool" via Recommendations" blog, which automatically generates links to popular pages.
